Built in 1983, MS Vesterålen is named after the first Hurtigruten ship that sailed in 1893, DS Vesterålen. Vesterålen is also an area just north of Lofoten and where Hurtigruten’s first port, Stokmarknes is situated.

This ship fuses the historical and intimate to create a truly special journey.

A unique cruise experience

MS Vesterålen is the smallest ship in the Hurtigruten fleet and with such limited passenger capacity, the cruise experience is truly unique.

The ship has been refurbished in both 1988 and 1995 and is characterised by the bright and welcoming public areas and lounges. Featuring a playroom and a library, this ship caters for guests young and old.

Magnificent views

Vesterålen, near Lofoten, is renowned for its dramatic scenery and is home to some of the most beautiful scenery on the coastal voyage.

During the journey, guests are treated to beautiful views from the panorama lounge. Aboard, there is an extensive art collection to be admired.
