Polarlys is the Norwegian word for ‘polar light’ and refers to the special Arctic phenomenon that we chase in our winter programme, “Hunting the Light”. MS Polarlys was built in 1996 and she is the third ship to have this name, indicating how important this phenomenon is to the Scandinavian community.

Stunning coastal landscapes

MS Polarlys was refurbished in 2016 with a ‘new arctic interior’ look, which merges the look of modern discovery with a contemporary feel. She maintains a maritime timelessness with mahogany panelling and polished brass fittings but is kept fresh and young with a selection of modern Norwegian art.

The breathtaking coastal landscape of Norway is reflected in the colour scheme throughout the ship, ranging from blue-greens to earthier, woody shades.

Cruising for all

MS Polarlys offers a number of different cabins to cater for all guests. Deck seven is equipped with an explorer lounge, panorama bar and an outdoor observation deck to look over the stunning beauty that is Norway’s coast. Deck six features a Jacuzzi and deck two has a spacious sauna while on deck four guests will find various restaurants and bistros.
